How do I Choose the Best Popcorn Bowl?

To choose the best popcorn bowl, there are a few different things to consider. First, how often do you use a popcorn bowl? If you make popcorn almost every night, you will most likely want a popcorn bowl that is sturdy and won't look worn. Popcorn bowls are most often made of glass, wood, plastic or metal, and don't vary much in price. If you want a bowl with a lid designed for popping popcorn in the microwave, it may be a bit more expensive.

Consider if you want one large popcorn bowl, for you and anyone else to share, or if you want a set. Some sets come with one large bowl for popcorn, along with four to six smaller bowls to distribute the popcorn individually. If you have kids, a set like this will probably make sharing easier and will prevent fighting over the popcorn bowl.

If design is important to you, there are many different types of popcorn bowls. You can find popcorn bowls in any color, and even have them personalized. There are bowls shaped like footballs, for example, which might look nice at a party. One popular type of popcorn bowl is a bowl designed to look like the old theater-style popcorn scoop boxes. These are also found in the movie theater tub designs. These are especially fun for kids to have at a movie night.

Other popcorn bowls are designed more for functionality. Some are designed to microwave the popcorn right in the bowl, and feature filters at the bottom of the bowl so that any unpopped kernels can be filtered out, along with a lid to prevent the popcorn from exploding all over the microwave. These are handy to have if you don't want to purchase the individual bags of popcorn, or if you do not have a separate popcorn popper.

Popcorn bowls can also make a nice gift. If you purchase a large popcorn bowl or a set of bowls, you might then fill it up with unpopped popcorn, a few movies or a coupon for some movie rentals, and a few small bags of candy. It is a relatively inexpensive gift to give someone a movie night at home, but they are certain to appreciate and enjoy it. They can then reuse the popcorn bowl. Popcorn can be a healthy, low-fat snack if it is air popped and not doused in butter, salt, or oil, and can be great to snack on in front of the TV.

I love the old-theater style popcorn boxes! They are so much fun to use and you really do get the feeling that you're about to go into the cinema theater.

At my campus, there are special events every semester before final's week. One of the campus schools put on movies throughout the week for 24 hours and serve popcorn. That way, students get a chance to take a break and take their mind off of studies for a while. My favorite part about this is that we get served popcorn in the old-theater style boxes.

It's so fun to grab a box of popcorn with friends and watch movies on a huge screen between studying. What a great way to help us relax and enjoy our popcorn!

I think the size, shape and color of the bowl is completely up to each person and their preferences. But I do agree that each person or child should have their own popcorn bowl.

It's not very hygienic for everyone to be eating out of the same bowl. When we reach into the bowl to get some popcorn, we touch a bunch of them that get left behind and will be eaten by the other person. I don't feel okay with that, especially if it's kids doing it.

My daughter had a sleep-over at our place last week and they watched movies all night. I made lots of popcorn but gave each of the girls a separate bowl just in case anyone had something infectious. I also used paper bowls so that I could just throw them out after and I had plenty to spare that way.

The only thing I look for in a popcorn bowl is that it's deep and large enough to hold a full bag of popcorn. Even if I have friends over, I like to give each of them a large bowl of popcorn. Popcorn takes so much space but it's really not a lot and you can eat it pretty fast. So splitting it into smaller bowls seem like a waste of time to me.

I love popcorn so I would probably end up filling a small bowl several times before I'm content. The last thing I want to do in the middle of a game or scary movie is to keep getting up to get more popcorn. So I make a lot of it, put it in a large deep popcorn bowl, place it on my lap and enjoy.

I do the same with my friends too and they love that they each get a large bowl of popcorn to themselves.
