If possible, take the shell off of one to see if you can determine whether the particular batch of peanuts is fresh or not. In many cases, you might a lot of shelled peanuts and find a few bad ones in your batch. Soft raw peanuts indicate that the food is spoiled. Discard any spoiled peanuts immediately.

One benefit to peanuts is that they can last for a long time when stored properly. Boiled peanuts tend to have the greatest longevity because they can be frozen. All cooked peanuts can be stored in the refrigerator if you do not plan on eating them right away. Once the nuts become soft, it is time to get rid of them in order to avoid any food-related illnesses.

Everybody talks about how fish is a brain food. Raw peanuts are good for the brain, too. There is something in the peanut that helps improve memory. The same part of the peanut that helps with memory is also supposed to help regulate cholesterol. It increases the good cholesterol and helps decrease the bad cholesterol.

Yes, peanuts are good for you as a whole, but every way we prepare them is not so good. Raw peanuts are the best. They have all the nutrients and vitamins in their natural form. When we start cooking, roasting and boiling the nuts they lose some of their health benefits.

Peanut butter is made from peanuts, but by the time you prepare the peanuts and then put in all the additives like sugar you have something that is less healthy than what you started out with when you shelled the peanut. I'm not saying that peanut butter does not have some benefits because it does, but it also has some negative additives.
