A wide variety of fruits can be used in recipes for baked goods, including cakes, breads, and muffins. The most common types of fruit used in muffins include blueberries, cranberries, and bananas. Other types of fruit muffins combine the flavors offered by various fruits with those traditionally found in other baked goods, such as cinnamon, vanilla, and chocolate.

The foundation for almost any fruit muffin recipe includes some ingredients common to a wide range of baked goods. For instance, most muffin recipes will call for flour, baking powder, and sugar. Other common ingredients found in most recipes include shortening, milk, and salt. Muffins are traditionally baked in muffin pans which have been either greased to prevent sticking or lined with paper cupcake liners. In addition to the typical muffin pan size, mini-muffin pans are also available for those looking to make snack-sized baked goods.

Various berries represent the most common options for making fruit muffins. Blueberries and cranberries top the list, however, strawberries and raspberries are also commonly found in muffins. For those who have trouble deciding on their favorite berry, including multiple types of berries is also an option for added flavor and color.

Whether for breakfast or a snack, fruit muffins featuring bananas are another popular option in bakeries and cafes. This kind of baked good is simply a smaller, more portable version of the ever-popular banana bread. Typically, fruit muffins made with bananas also feature nuts as an added touch. Nuts often paired with bananas include walnuts and almonds.

Beyond the traditional options, muffins can also be made from other fruits. For instance, cherries and apricots work well as ingredients, either alone or combined with other fruits. Other options include adding chunks of peaches or pears to the recipe. In addition, dried fruits, such as raisins, are often mixed in with fresh fruits to help vary the texture of the final product.

At one of my favorite restaurants, you can order breakfast any time of the day. Many of their breakfast meals come with your choice of muffin.

These muffins are huge and can almost be a meal in itself. The two kinds I get the most often are cranberry and a traditional banana muffin. They have several different kinds to choose from, but I usually stick with a fruit muffin that is pretty simple.

Once I tried a pear and pecan muffin that had a streusel topping. This was really good and I felt like I was treating myself to a dessert.

I like to mix up my own muffins so I know what is in them, and can make them really healthy. I have been trying to cut out the white flour and white sugar from my diet. I will use a whole grain flour and love to add different kinds of fruit to these.

To really make these healthy, I will add some shredded carrots to the batter. Once these are baked in, you can't even taste them, but it adds even more nutrition and fiber.

We have walnut trees in our yard, so I always have walnuts on hand that I like to use in my baking. For me, a muffin just isn't complete without a generous portion of nuts added.

My husband doesn't care for these muffins at all and prefers a fruit muffin that is lighter and much sweeter tasting.

My family loves apple cinnamon muffins. They really hit the spot in the fall, but they are also good any time of the year. I love to eat these with pecans in them, but my kids don't like the nuts added, so I will separate the batter when I make them.

When I bake the muffins for the kids, I will use a mini-muffin pan. These are perfect bite-sized muffins for them. I like to use the regular size muffin tin for myself.

I don't usually add butter to my muffins when I eat them, but love to drizzle them with a little bit of honey. If I am eating breakfast on the run, I muffin and some juice is a quick and easy way to get something in my stomach so it isn't growling all morning long.

We like to eat a big breakfast on the weekends, and I will often fix some type of fruit muffin to go along with this. Many times it will be a berry mixture of strawberry and blueberry.

If I am in a hurry, I will use a mix. All I have to do is add an egg and some milk, mix up the batter and pour in muffin cups. Otherwise, I will mix them up from scratch and add in the fruit that I have on hand.

I always make enough so that we have extra. These make great snacks during the rest of the weekend. I have always loved fruit muffins, because they can be somewhat healthy, and fruit muffins usually help satisfy my sweet tooth.
